Search Committee for Next Dean of Sanford School of Public Policy

Provost Alec D. Gallimore has appointed a committee to lead the search for Duke University’s next dean of the Sanford School of Public Policy.

The new dean will succeed Judith Kelley, who stepped down and returned to the faculty at the end of the 2023-24 academic year. Manoj Mohanan, the Creed C. Black Professor and a professor of economics and research professor of global health, has served as interim dean since July 1, 2024.

The search committee will be chaired by Kate Bundorf, J. Alexander McMahon Distinguished Professor of Health Policy and Management in the Sanford School. Other members of the committee are:

  • Vicki Bogan, Professor, Sanford School
  • Renan Chicarelli Marques, PhD student in Public Policy, Sanford School
  • Edgardo Colon-Emeric, Dean of the Divinity School and Ruth and A. Morris Williams, Jr. Professor of Theology and Christian Ministry
  • J.J. Johnson, Chair, Board of Visitors, Sanford School
  • Anirudh Krishna, Edgar T. Thompson Distinguished Professor of Public Policy, Sanford School
  • Jay Pearson, McLain Foundation Associate Professor of Public Policy, Sanford School
  • Sumetrice Porter, Director of Faculty Relations, Human Resources
  • David Schanzer, Professor of the Practice, Sanford School

The provost will charge the committee with conducting a thorough search to identify a diverse pool of candidates for the position. Executive search firm Isaacson, Miller will support the committee.
