The Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) has announced that its Commission on Peer Review and Accreditation (COPRA) has accredited the Duke University Master of Public Policy (MPP).
Duke’s MPP is a top-ranked professional master’s program housed in the Sanford School of Public Policy. Dean Judith Kelley says NASPAA accreditation is one of many quality indicators of Sanford’s top-ranked MPP program.
“For more than 50 years, Duke has been a dedicated leader in public policy education. Our MPP program is key to the next generation of public policy solutions. Our MPP program equips future leaders in public service who are asking questions that matter for the problems facing our society, and within a few years graduating with skills to tackle those challenges directly. NASPAA accreditation demonstrates the rigor and quality of Sanford’s MPP program from an organization that shares our commitment to public service at the highest level,” Kelley said.
Sanford is an active member of NASPAA, the global nonprofit in public service education established in 1970 -- the year before Duke began offering public policy education in 1971-1972. NASPAA includes more than 300 institutional members globally that award degrees in public service education.
NASPAA is the global standard for public service education. Accredited programs share NASPAA’s commitment to transparent, effective, inclusive, and ethical public service. The NASPAA Standards ensure programs promote public service values, bound in the pursuit of programmatic improvement and educational quality. NASPAA accreditation recognizes that a master’s degree program in public and nonprofit policy, affairs, or administration has undertaken a rigorous process of peer review conducted by the Commission on Peer Review and Accreditation (COPRA). All NASPAA-accredited programs are in substantial conformance with the NASPAA Accreditation Standards for Professional Master’s Degree Programs in Public and Nonprofit Policy, Affairs, and Administration.
