Director of Financial Aid
Thomas Welch joined Sanford in August 2024 as the Director of Financial Aid. In his role, he works closely with students to ensure that aid is offered in accordance with federal and institutional policies. He also educates students on eligibility expectations and repayment commitments. Prior to joining Sanford, he worked at Barton College as the Executive Director of Financial Aid, an adjunct instructor, and a Title IX Investigator. Additionally, Thomas served as a Team Lead and Technical Financial Aid consultant through NASFAA’S Blue Icon Emergency Corps initiative. Thomas has over 17 years of experience in higher education, primarily in financial aid and admissions at various universities and colleges.
Thomas earned his undergraduate degree in sociology from Emory and Henry College and later obtained his MBA.
In addition to his professional commitments, he volunteers with special needs students through an organization called Young Life. In his free time, he enjoys playing hockey and golf with his sons or spending time with his wife.
