Director of Knowledge Partnerships
Matt Bunyi is the Director of Knowledge Partnerships at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy, where he leads efforts to develop strategic partnerships that enhance the school’s educational, research, and policy engagement initiatives in Washington, D.C. His work is central to the Sanford School’s educational presence in the nation’s capital, supporting the school’s Duke in DC spring semester away program, Executive MPA immersions in Washington, and numerous short-term experiential learning programs in the capital. More broadly, he supports strategic initiatives and priorities that support the school’s long-term success in Washington and beyond.
Matt previously led Sanford’s executive education portfolio, teaching in programs on monitoring and evaluation, development economics, and governance while spearheading new research collaborations across multiple sectors. Matt also managed research projects in India for Duke University, overseeing randomized field experiments and process evaluations on government cash transfer programs in India. Prior to his work at Duke University, he was a Manager at MIT’s Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) South Asia office in New Delhi, India, working on capacity building programs and expanding the usage of evidence-based policy in South Asia. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Indonesia.
Matt holds a Master of Public Policy from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy and a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. He is proficient in Spanish, French, and Indonesian.
