Human Resources Director

Marsha has been with Duke for 30 years. During her tenure, she has had the opportunity to provide human resources expertise in the Health System, Medical Center, and the University. She has over 22 years of experience in the human resources field and has served in various senior leadership human resources roles at Duke. She provides guidance, supervision, strategic leadership and directs human resources in all areas of benefits, HR consultation, recruitment, placement and retention, talent acquisition, budget planning, classification and salary administration, interpretation of personnel policies, employee relations, performance management, training and development, payroll, visa services, systems administration, global consultation, and employee diversity and work culture initiatives. In her previous Duke role, she also served as the chief diversity officer where she was responsible for collaborating diversity initiatives with the Provost Management Center and all areas of school. She actively serves as a member of the Duke Dispute Resolution Process. Marsha graduated Cum Laude and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Management with a concentration in Human Resources from DeVry University.


Marsha’s favorite color is pink, and she has a great love for shoes! When she is not working, you can find her at the nearest mall or outlet shopping! She also enjoys spending time with her family including her wonderful grandchildren!
