Kaitlin Briggs has an extensive background in events, serving most recently as the Senior Program Coordinator for University Ceremonies prior to joining the Sanford community. When starting her career at Duke in 2016, she had oversight of the university-wide commencement ceremony, opening convocations, Founders’ Day convocation, and President Price’s inauguration. In addition to her work on ceremonies, she advised and mentored Duke’s student ambassador group, the Duke Presidential Ambassadors (formerly Dukes & Duchesses), who supported up to 120 special events and campus tours.
Before Duke, she held several leadership and event roles at Mercer University, where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Currently, she serves as the President for Duke’s Special Event Planners Council, an internal professional development network for event planners on both the university and health system sides.
Kaitlin is passionate about bringing people together for a shared experience hence her desire to work in events. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and son, Julian. She is an avid runner and plays the trumpet in the Durham Community Concert Band.
