Research Assistant
Irene Hermosilla is a Paraguayan policy and international development professional with more than 10 years of experience in governance, transparency, community engagement, and education. She is a Fulbright Scholar and holds a Master of International Development Policy from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. At Duke, she supports research on technology innovation, environmental governance, and public policy through qualitative analysis, literature reviews, data organization, and policy writing. Her broader research interests include environmental justice, carbon markets, Indigenous land governance, and equitable community participation in climate policy. Before coming to Duke, Irene led civic engagement and education initiatives in Paraguay. She is committed to developing inclusive, evidence-based policies that advance social and environmental justice. In her free time, Irene does embroidery and tries her hand at creative writing as a form of reflection and fun therapy.
