Quinton Smith

Associate in Research

Central Administration Office

Quinton Smith serves as the fellow for the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) at the Sanford School for Public Policy. In this position, Quinton will manage the CDI ‘Safe Space’ in Sanford, help to organize and facilitate committee activities, forge connections between Sanford and supportive resources for diversity and inclusion across Duke’s campus, and serve as the primary point of contact with students, faculty, and staff in CDI matters. Quinton holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications, both from UNC Chapel Hill, and has also been accepted as a doctoral student at the School of Education there, focusing on Cultural Studies and Literacies. Quinton’s research interests include how social pedagogies in African-American communities influence racial identity formation in Black adolescents, and the role of popular culture in the internalization of discriminatory ideologies within marginalized populations.

When not actively advocating for social justice, Quinton enjoys photography, cooking, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
