Joseph McNicholas

Bio:

Joseph McNicholas joined Sanford in June, 2018 to lead a Sanford School-wide effort to raise the quality and quantity of submitted applications for research grants from federal and non-federal funding sources.  In this role, Joseph aids in identifying, organizing, facilitating, managing and submitting new interdisciplinary research proposals for faculty members, including collaborative opportunities with departments, schools, institutes, centers and University signature initiatives outside of Sanford.

Since 2000, Joseph has worked in research administration and advancement at colleges and universities.  Prior to his current position, Joseph served as the Director for Research Opportunities at the John Hope Franklin Institute at Duke where he expanded research opportunities by linking faculty from the humanities, interpretive social sciences and the arts with researchers from other disciplines such as health, energy, and data science.

Joseph received his PhD in American Literature from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Redlands, a masters degree in English from Fordham University, and a BA in English from Fordham University.
