Simon Miles joined the faculty of the Sanford School of Public Policy as an Assistant Professor in 2017. He is a diplomatic historian whose research focuses on US foreign policy and international security.

His current book project explores the root causes of the peaceful conclusion of the Cold War using recently declassified archival materials from both sides of the Iron Curtain.

At Duke, Simon teaches grand strategy and Cold War international history.
