Lalita Kaligotla joined the Hart Leadership Program team in 2019 as Adjunct Professor and Associate Director. In this role, she will be teaching and coordinating the Service Opportunities in Leadership (SOL) and Hart Fellows programs. She is currently co-teaching the gateway course in the SOL program, “Border Crossing”. Prior to moving to Durham, Lalita directed the Minor in Leadership Studies at Georgia Tech, a successful interdisciplinary program based in the Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship at the Scheller College of Business, focused on facilitating leadership development among undergraduate students through curricular and co-curricular opportunities.
At Georgia Tech, she also designed and taught the capstone course for the Minor, “Leadership for Positive Change”, with an experiential and service oriented pedagogical focus. As part of this course, students partnered with various community-based organizations in the city of Atlanta to address a challenge and collaboratively devise a solution to address the challenge. Through pedagogical opportunities in the classroom; active engagement and service within communities; and mindful reflection, students developed their own personal leadership models as they began their post-collegiate journeys.
Lalita also has extensive experience in project management and sponsored research development at several academic institutions including Georgia Tech and Georgia State University. Originally from Hyderabad, India, Lalita conducted graduate work in Social Policy and Business at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai, India; Mandel School of Social Sciences, and the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland OH.
