Sanford Professor William A. Darity Jr. and Darrick Hamilton, professor of economics and urban policy at The New School have been awarded a $70,000 grant from the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. It is one of five academic grants awarded this year by the Center to support research on inequality and growth. The project is an extension of the National Asset Scorecard for Communities of Color (NASCC), which analyzes wealth inequality at the city level. The NASCC previously published a report, The Color of Wealth in Boston, in 2015. This grant will support a second wave of research in Boston, broadening the categories of groups examined to include subgroups of Asian households. It will provide more granular data on the wealth and economic situation of Boston’s racial and ethnic groups.
