The Road to Recovery in NC Public Schools: Comprehensive Planning, Strategic Investments, and Charting a Path Forward

Michael Maher and Jeni Corn from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction Office of Learning Recovery and Acceleration will explain how NCDPI education researchers are providing resources and supports to districts and schools to address learning loss resulting from the pandemic. The Office of Learning Recovery and Acceleration (OLR) is developing, implementing, and evaluating state- and district-run interventions to accelerate learning for North Carolina's 1.6 million public school students. The session will focus on how OLR is using research to identify, extend, scale, and sustain programs that demonstrate impact. These programs will be the basis of a new clearinghouse of North Carolina Promising Practices. Maher is the executive director of OLR and Corn is director of research and evaluation for OLR.
