Governor Roy Cooper has appointed Liz Doherty MPP’23 to the advisory board of the North Carolina Council for Women and Youth Involvement for a two year term as a member at-large. The council advises the governor, the North Carolina legislature and state departments on issues that impact women in the state. It works to raise awareness of violence against women, strengthening existing programs, and provide youth with leadership opportunities, working with community and government organizations.

Doherty was most recently a senior press secretary for the Sierra Club and director of communications for Governor Cooper’s 2020 re-election campaign.

“I am so grateful to Governor Cooper for giving me this opportunity. It is an honor to serve alongside so many talented, passionate Council members working to build safe, strong communities where each and every North Carolina woman can thrive,” Doherty said.
