I had the pleasure of posing for a photo with one of the founders of the Sanford School, professor Joel Fleishman. (Those are flowers from his garden!)

The 2021-2022 academic year marks 50 years since the study of public policy began at Duke University. Learn more online about our rich history; spotlights of institution builders, alumni, friends and students of Sanford; and look towards the future with us.

Over the past year at Sanford, we have made significant progress toward our Strategic Priorities, while simultaneously navigating a challenging pandemic together. We, alongside our students, have many shared accomplishments achieved by sheer determination. Among the highlights: We graduated more than 300 students in May! We started new programs. Later this month, we will celebrate our 2020 graduates at a reception at Sanford on September 24.

With your support, we continue to advance our mission: to change the world by researching the most pressing public policy issues and preparing students for lives of leadership, civic engagement and public service.

Happy birthday, public policy graduates and friends!
