The future and prosperity of the Sanford School of Public Policy is directly tied to the commitment of its alumni, parents and friends and to their support of the Sanford Annual Fund.

Help us build the legacy of our school.

The Sanford Annual Fund, launched in 2009 when Sanford became Duke's tenth school, offers a unique opportunity to be part of a growing tradition of consistent yearly giving. Donating to the Sanford Annual Fund now will build the legacy of our school more than any other time in our existence.

What your gift supports

Your gifts and support aid us in the charge of educating future leaders, enhancing faculty expertise, furthering focused policy research, and pursuing our vision for the Sanford School to be the best. Gifts of all sizes contribute to the success of our community.

Recognizing Leadership Giving

In order to recognize its generous donors of unrestricted gifts, the Sanford School of Public Policy has adopted the leadership gift clubs used by the Duke Annual Fund.  Leadership gifts provide the Sanford School with flexible resources to support a wide range of important needs – from providing scholarships to deserving students to enhancing the school’s long-range scholarly and curricular initiatives.

Membership is renewable annually and requires that at least one unrestricted gift or pledge payment to the Sanford School be made or facilitated by an individual or his/her spouse. All unrestricted giving to Duke University, including giving to the Sanford Annual Fund, is considered in determining the appropriate gift club. Corporate matching gifts also count toward membership if received or verified within the fiscal year.

The Heritage Society at the Sanford School of Public Policy honors alumni and friends who have included Sanford in their estate plans or have made some other type of planned gift to Sanford.

Duke is the university we know today because James Buchanan Duke had the foresight and great expectations for a college he cared for and a keen sense of how to manage his assets to ensure his family's financial well-being. He defined his bequest during his lifetime, and it produced what he had planned. While few can approach the magnitude of Mr. Duke's bequest, many of Sanford’s alumni and friends can have a meaningful impact on the future of the school by supporting it with a deferred gift. Such giving is as vital to the school’s future as it was in its past.

If you have planned an estate or life income gift to benefit the Sanford School, we would be honored to add you to the rolls of the Heritage Society. Please contact Sarah Fish, Duke's Director of Trust and Estate Administration, at sarah.fish@dev.duke.edu or (919) 681-0462.
