The Duke Sanford School of Public Policy is extending a 25% tuition reduction and application fee waiver for graduate programs to federal, state and local government employees, including contractors, in a career transition resulting from changes in the federal workforce or funding within the last year.

First introduced last spring, the U.S. Federal Public Service Scholarship is now available to qualified students admitted to Sanford’s Master of Public Policy, Master of International Development Policy, Master of Public Affairs, or Master of National Security Policy programs.

This scholarship acknowledges that changes in the federal workforce may continue to place employees in periods of career transition and reflects Sanford’s mission to strengthen public leadership and expand opportunities at every stage of professional life.

All applicants will be automatically considered based on their admissions materials. No separate scholarship application is required.

Interim Dean Manoj Mohanan

As interim Dean Manoj Mohanan recently shared with incoming public policy students:

“Your decision to pursue graduate school at this time is much like that of a ship captain. A ship captain heads into port when the sea is turbulent, and visibility is low. This decision is not an act of hesitation – it is an act of wisdom. While the storm is raging, the captain studies the maps, stocks the supplies, prepares the crew, and learns from the ships that have gone before. When the storm passes—and it will—the ship is ready. Not to drift, but to chart a course with confidence. You are those captains. You are here at Sanford to prepare—not just for the crises of today, but for the opportunities of tomorrow.”
