Duke-RTI Professors and Practitioners in Conversation

In many developing nations, young people make up a substantial part of the population. As these youths enter the workforce, many of them face a stark reality. While there are decent jobs available, youths often lack the skills to fill them. As a result, these young people are relegated to low-skilled jobs or unemployment, trapping them in poverty, reducing their nation's economic growth, and sowing the seeds for political instability.Ensuring meaningful youth employment and lasting prosperity calls for multi-faceted expertise and effort. Students deserve an education that prepares them for the labor market. Youth who are not in school require training to escape unemployment or access better jobs. Young people could use support to create their own jobs and career paths through entrepreneurship and innovation. Join us as a panel of experts on education and entrepreneurship from Duke, RTI International and other organizations share diverse perspectives on how policymakers can invest in preparing youth for the workforce, ensuring there are opportunities when they enter it, and enabling them to take advantage of these opportunities. This event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided, and parking passes are available. Please RSVP at tinyurl.com/youth4717.
