Counterterrorism in the Trump Era: A Conversation with Lisa Monaco

Lisa Monaco, President Obama's chief counterterrorism and homeland security advisor for his entire second term, will speak at Duke on Wednesday, September 13. As the former Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, she was responsible for policy coordination and crisis management on issues ranging from cybersecurity and natural disasters - Russian hacking of the election and the Ebola crisis - to terrorist attacks at home and abroad. 0x0A0x0ASanford professor and director of the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security David Schanzer will engage Monaco in a discussion called "Counterterrorism in the Trump Era" at 6:00 p.m. in the Fleishman Commons at the Sanford School of Public Policy for this Terry Sanford Distinguished Lecture.0x0A0x0APrior to the White House, Ms. Monaco spent 15 years at the Department of Justice, serving as a career federal prosecutor in the Justice Department and the FBI helping then Director Robert S. Mueller, III, transform the FBI after 9/11 into a national security organization focused on preventing terrorist attacks on the United States. 0x0A0x0AThis Terry Sanford Distinguished Lecture, sponsored by the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security at Duke University with support from the William R.
