Alumni & Donors

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Sanford School of Public Policy. Whether you are an alumnus, a parent of a current or former student, or a person passionate about policy based in rigorous analysis, there is a way for you to support the Sanford School.

The Sanford School is a place where students come to learn the rigorous analysis necessary to succeed in the policy arena, and leave inspired to make a difference in the world. The school relies on philanthropic donations to make possible the work of the faculty, centers and programs that contribute to the academic experiences of undergraduate, professional and graduate students.

Duke Forward, Duke University's comprehensive fundraising campaign, aims to raise $3.25 billion by June 30, 2017. As part of this effort, the Sanford School has a goal of $75 million. Through the Sanford Annual Fund, gifts of all sizes help meet the most pressing needs of the school. Endowment giving establishes permanent resources to support the school.

Please explore this section of the website to learn about giving opportunities, or contact a development officer to ask about our fundraising priorities.

Alumni of the Sanford School of Public Policy are smart, pragmatic, and ethical citizens and leaders who live and work in every corner of the globe.

These alumni, empowered through academic training and real-world experience, are motivated to build a better world by serving the public and guiding the private and non-profit sectors that shape government decisions.

Our alumni support the school with their time, resources, and advocacy. Sanford's partnership with alumni plays a key role in the school's ability to connect across disciplines and around the world. Sanford alumni engage in the school by:

  • contributing to policy research
  • speaking to classes on their experience into the policy sector
  • recruiting and mentoring students
  • creating internships
  • inviting other people to become engaged in the school
