Bio/Profile

Anika Schenck-Fontaine is a doctoral student at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University concentrating in Developmental Psychology. Drawing on theories of developmental psychology, sociology, and economics, her research explores the influence of job loss, material hardship, subjective financial stress, and income inequality on parenting behavior and children's development. Prior to coming to Duke University, Anika worked at the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform at Georgetown University. Anika received her M.A. in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University in 2009.

Anika is a Doris Duke Foundation Graduate Fellow for the Promotion of Child Wellbeing. She was also a 2016-2017 Visiting Scholar at INED - Institut National d'Etudes Démographiques (Paris, France).
