Sanford PhD Candidate Receives Grant

October 18, 2016

PhD Candidate Laura Bellows received a grant from the Educational Opportunity Monitoring Project, established by the Russell Sage Foundation and the William T. Grant Foundation to address educational opportunity in the U.S.  Bellows will use the $6,200 grant to study the effects of immigration enforcement policy on the Hispanic-white achievement gaps.  Using data from the Stanford Education Data Archive and the Secure Communities Program, she will investigate whether increases in immigration enforcement actions increase Hispanic-white achievement gaps.
